SAYING' HI!

Natural Hair and #ThatFaithLife

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I'm not sure if this is the same for you, but my hair is a part of my spiritual worship to God. You may ask - HOW? Years ago, I had an intimate walk with God, and one of the outcomes was that I felt led to lead a very simple, natural life. I started to grow my hair out from the chemical relaxer, I changed my eating habits to eating two main meals a day with lots of water and healthy snacks, and I got rid of practically all my jewellery. Even to this day, I don't flash too much 'bling'. I was aiming at having locks, but I just couldn't go that far.

By the way, my greatest example of a Valentine is my Saviour, Jesus Christ, because He died for all of us on that cross at Calvary.

Over the years, I strayed...and lost my natural lifestyle, but at last, in 2014, I re-embraced my natural hair. My hair is not a fashion statement at all, nor is it an ethnic statement. It is based on my belief that what God has made is GOOD, and therefore my hair is good. I am satisfied with what God gave me. Of course, from time to time, I will try various styles, but I my AIM is to embrace my natural hair in its natural state.

I shall say it again - this is my path; it may or may not be yours.

Back at home from church today, I looked at my hair plaited in cornrows, and realized that that hairstyle wasn't bad at all! Usually, I would not at all embrace wearing cornrows out in public... it just didn't appear formal on my (still) relatively short hair, but I had a change of heart after watching myself in the mirror today.

Maybe I could rock this style at some functions. It is my hair, after all.

I'll update you on how that goes.
